Dear friends,
This week, we will meet Monday evening, November 2, from 7-8:30PM ET in person at our meditation space (3812 Northampton Street NW); Wednesday morning, November 4, from 7-8AM ET online; Thursday morning, November 5, from 7-8AM ET online; and Friday, November 6, 12-1PM ET online/in person (Hybrid).
This Monday we will take time to celebrate our ancestors together. The evening will be co-facilitated by Annie, Magda, Rachel, Marie, and Susie.
We invite you to bring your ancestors with you to sangha on Monday. You can bring them in your hearts, a photo of them, a piece of nature, an item of something belonging to them, or anything else for our community altar.
After our meditation period, we will enjoy watching this short video by Thay. Then we will each have a chance to share something about an ancestor who touched our lives.
The Loved Ones by Wendell Berry
The loved ones we call the dead
depart from us and for a while
are absent. And then as if
called back by our love, they come
near us again. They enter our dreams.
We feel they have been near us
when we have not thought of them.
They are simply here, simply waiting
while we are distracted among
our obligations. At last
it comes to us: They live now
in the permanent world.
We are the absent ones.
Please join us to celebrate and remember our beloved ancestors.
