Our Greatest Superpower Is to Be in the Body
We invite you to join us on Saturday, October 4th, from 1:00 - 5:00 for an in-person half-day of mindfulness organized by the OHMC Events Circle: Annie, Camille, Carrie, Catherine, DeeDee, and Gerry.
In our society today, we are often in a dispersed mindstate, as information comes at us constantly through screens, our changing environment, and our relationships. This information overload can make it challenging to stay settled and to know how to act in ways that can increase well-being in ourselves and the world. When we are able to connect with our senses in the present moment, we can begin to feel everything our body has to tell us. Our body is a portal to insight and discovery always available to us, and we can learn how to stay in tune with it.. We will reflect and practice with this together, guided in part by a recorded talk by Sister True Dedication.
During our time together, we will enjoy a guided deep relaxation, mindful movements or outdoor walking meditation (weather depending), a short silent meditation, a recorded talk, and time to share our experiences with each other.
Because we know the benefits of having a wide diversity of experience in our sanghas, we explicitly welcome people of all races, shapes, sizes, neurodiversities, gender expressions, sexual orientations, and anyone who has ever felt sidelined or marginalized for any reason.
We will offer a platform for people to arrange a carpool to the studio if you don’t have transportation (we are not monitoring this so ridesharing isn’t guaranteed).
Space is limited to 25, so please sign up early.
The Opening Heart Mindfulness Community seeks to foster understanding and compassion by providing vibrant and generous opportunities to practice mindfulness within a diverse community in the Plum Village tradition, founded by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. We recognize that in supporting racial and social justice equity within our sangha and throughout the mahasangha, we support the work of transformation individually and collectively.
