Webinar Series - coming in 2020
African Americans are the targets of violent abuise every day in the U.S.. Violence can be as subtle as being passed over for a promotion, or as obvious as police shootings and hate crimes. To quote the Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers (WRAG) “Anti-Black racism is the foundation for the strategies, tactics, tools and cultural worldviews that propagate and maintain racial oppression, repression and exclusion in the U.S. and the world.”
Anti-black racism is the cause of enormous wealth disparities between White and Black individuals. And, anti-black racism is at the root of high rates of maternal disease and infant mortality rates in Black women. These are just two examples of the ways that anti-black racism affects our country daily.
We felt it critical to introduce a Making-Visible: African American webinar series because all of us have been conditioned into anti-black racism and we need to support the unraveling of this conditioning.
Each of our calls will address Anti-black racism issues, pointing out directly to the inequalities and injustices of anti-black racism. Each webinar will be led by a different African American activist. Guests will be announced as we get closer to the events.
Please join us as we mindfully bring light to this suffering and learn how we can change the way we look at race inequality.
